Frank Vehafric

Just before midnight

We take the ladder to the roof

With folding camp chairs

My daughter and I

To sit above the yard

Framed by dark firs we lie

Draped across the arms of chairs

To better see the Perseid shower

We talk of movies, what to take to college

The quality of light for seeing in night sky

She shows me

Draco - the S curve around the little dipper

And Cassiopea an odd shaped W

In the east

And I know

That in some things she

Already knows more than I
