Karen (Jones) Bonaudi

Cowboy

If I believed in other lives,

In that we’ve lived before,

I could see us standing on the banks

Of a stream above Tintern Abbey,

You in uniform, me in long

Skirts and ribbons.

Our eyes smiling goodbye.

I could believe our souls

Were once captured in rock

Formations on a red desert,

Where we would bake in heat,

Make love in thunderstorms.

And wait for time to

Spill us out again.
