                     Snow Eyes

we come to earth

and adorn it

we brighten and

change it

lightly lightly

but soon we are too thick

with our importance

the melting begins

and we sag like

swathes of snow

revealing the frame underneath

if we keep things gray

we might outlast the day

but when the sun burns through

we die

and return

to the snow's eye
