Marcia Winters

Breaking Fast

I wake as sun slips over

    the sill

And pull you to the patio,

We'll have a breakfast picnic,

Scent of new mown hay upon

    the breeze.

Fresh orange juice poured from

    carafe to flutes

Eggs Benedict and potato pancakes

    on willowware plates

Bare toes touching, caressing

    under umbrella table

Encouragement for the day to come.
