 When Word Comes

Writer's picture: Steve CSteve C

Updated: May 20, 2024

It seems so calm,

so understated,

this disintegration of my life

which comes with official notification.

“Evidence of malignancy" . . .

The words stay

steady on the page,

the only constant

as the world's axis shifts.

Nothing will ever be the same again

as I discover

the old philosophers were right -

The world is flat.

And I have fallen off the edge.

I've never had to face something like this, Suzanne, but your words portray an incomprehensible understanding that almost makes me feel it myself.
